Gorge Junior Sailing
Give your kids water and safety skills that will last a lifetime!
Sailing instruction in basic sailing skills including rigging, knot tying, and safety. Intermediate/advanced sailors will perfect basic skills, focus on components unique to more complicated boats and be introduced to sailboat racing protocols. Beginner sailing classes will be held in the confines of the Hood River Marina; Intermediate and advanced classes will have opportunities to sail on the river. Classes are taught by US Sailing certified instructors. All students must know how to swim. Swim check is intended to acclimate children to the cold, murky water and observe their comfort level in the water. Swimming in the river presents new circumstances and is not like swimming in a pool. Students are required to wear personal floatation devices (PFDs) at all times while on the docks, on the beach, and sailing. PFDs are not provided; children and adults must bring their own properly fitting PFD. Students are required to bring PFD, closed-toed shoes, sunscreen, towel, water bottle, and snack. Children must be of class age by July 1st. Each student must fill out a medical & liability form (available at gorgejuniorsailing.org). Please provide current email address upon registration; forms and class info will be emailed before first day of class.

Cancellations: Payment in full is required in order to complete registration. Unfortunately, we do not offer prorated payments for partial class attendance. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and count on your registration to fund our operating costs and pay our instructors. We make exceptions for medical emergencies. A last minute vacation does not count as an emergency.
If you do need to cancel our policy is as follows:
- Before 30 Days – Full Refund, minus a $20 processing fee
- Before 15 days – 50% Refund
- 15 days or less NO Refunds
GJS reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet the minimum number of participants, and will attempt to place participants in an alternate class or, if unable, will issue a refund.
